Libbe was born on September 15th, 1844.  Libbe's father was Melle Lieuwes Rozema and his mother was Mientje Libbes Westra.  His paternal grandparents were Lieuwe Roelofs Rosema and Sytske Hedzers Kooistra. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Lieuwe, Hedzer, Tabe, Sytse, Sijke and Sijke.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 92 on September 22nd, 1936.
