Sipke was born on November 23rd, 1794 in Akkerwoude.  Sipke's father was Lieuwe Roelofs Rosema and his mother was Hiltje Sipkes. He had a brother and a sister, named Roelof and Tetje.  He was the second oldest of the three children. He had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Hedzer, Hedzer, Melle, Froukje, Janke, Wytske and Gertje.  He died at the age of 52 on May 7th, 1847.
