Antje was born on December 11th, 1824 in Rinsumageest.  Antje's father was Hendrik Eelkes Kooistra and her mother was Antje Durks Vellinga.  Her paternal grandparents were Eelke Ruurds Kooistra and Antje Hendriks. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Durk, Eelke, Jitske, Dirkje and Grietje.  She was the second oldest of the six children.  She died at the age of 80 on February 16th, 1905.
