Peter was born in 1793.  Peter's father was Edwin Godwin and his mother was Elizabeth Hunter.  His maternal grandparents were Joshua Hunter and Mary Conegenton. He had a brother and a sister, named James and Sallie.  He was the youngest of the three children.
