Josef Drobil was born on January 29th, 1745 in Žádovice and his baptism was conducted by priest Thomas Fiala.  His godfather was Joannes Pechowsky and his godmother was Catharina Pechowská z Hýsel. Josef Drobil's father was Josef Drobil and his mother was Polyxena / Apolena Chrástecká.  His paternal grandparents were Tomáš Drobil and Anna NN.; his maternal grandfather was František Chrástecký. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Jan Drobil, František Drobil, Pavel Drobil, Štěpán Drobil, Kateřina Drobilová, Barbora Drobilová, Marina Drobilová, Kateřina Drobilová and Rozina Drobilová.  He was the seventh oldest of the ten children.
