Irene Edna was born in December 1912.  Irene Edna's father is George Morson Ward and her mother is Alice Lee.  Her paternal grandparents are John Ward and Elizabeth Armstrong; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Lee and Alice "Ally" Todd.  She has two brothers and a sister, named Edwin John Cyril, George Daniel Robert and Annie Muriel Lavinia.  She is the youngest of the four children.
