Mary Ann was born in 1870.  Mary Ann's father was John O'Brien and her mother was Catherine "Kate" O'Doherty.  Her paternal grandparents are James O'Brien and Bridget Ryan; her maternal grandparents are Martin O'Doherty and Mary Frawley.  She had four brothers and six sisters, named John, Patrick¹, Daniel, Patrick², Margaret Mary, James, Katherine, Cornelius, Bridget Mary and Jane.  She was the oldest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 85 on December 13th, 1955.  Her burial was in Jandowae Cemetery, Queensland.
