William was born on March 24th, 1878 in East Swamp, Toowoomba, Queensland and his baptism took place on April 16th, 1878 in St. Patrick's Church, Toowoomba.  William's father was James McNamara and his mother was Mary Ann Fuller.  His paternal grandparents are John McNamara and Mary Ann Barry; his maternal grandparents were Frederick Fuller and Bridget Beeching.  He had six brothers and five sisters, named Francis John, James Joseph, Frank, Edward Patrick, John "Jack", Charles Paris, Sabina, Mary Anne¹, Sarah, Mary Anne² and Minnie May.  He was the fifth oldest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 101 on April 11th, 1979 in Prince Charles Hospital, Chermside, Brisbane, Queensland.  His burial was on April 12th, 1979 in Nudgee Cemetery, Brisbane, Queensland.
