Queen Ethel was born on October 2nd, 1908 in Kelsey Creek, Proserpine Queensland.  Queen Ethel's father was August James Fontaine and her mother was Sabina McNamara.  Her paternal grandparents are Gille Fontaine and Lavinia Ann Morris Rider; her maternal grandparents were James McNamara and Mary Ann Fuller.  She had nine brothers and four sisters, named William James, Ernest Alfred, Berty George, David Oliver, Philip Charles, Boxer Robertson, Lawrence Edward, Joseph Henry, Roberson Francis, Minnie Mable, Bertha Maude, Jessie Maria and Ivy Kuridala Rose.  She was the nineth oldest of the fourteen children.  She died at the age of 79 on September 5th, 1988 in Mareeba, Queensland.
