Philip Charles was born on December 5th, 1906 in Kelsey Creek, Proserpine Queensland.  Philip Charles' father was August James Fontaine and his mother was Sabina McNamara.  His paternal grandparents are Gille Fontaine and Lavinia Ann Morris Rider; his maternal grandparents were James McNamara and Mary Ann Fuller.  He had eight brothers and five sisters, named William James, Ernest Alfred, Berty George, David Oliver, Boxer Robertson, Lawrence Edward, Joseph Henry, Roberson Francis, Minnie Mable, Bertha Maude, Jessie Maria, Queen Ethel and Ivy Kuridala Rose.  He was the eighth oldest of the fourteen children.  He died at the age of 53 on January 10th, 1960.
