Ernest Alfred was born on June 27th, 1898 in Bovenia Plains, Queensalnd.  Ernest Alfred's father was August James Fontaine and his mother was Sabina McNamara.  His paternal grandparents are Gille Fontaine and Lavinia Ann Morris Rider; his maternal grandparents were James McNamara and Mary Ann Fuller.  He had eight brothers and five sisters, named William James, Berty George, David Oliver, Philip Charles, Boxer Robertson, Lawrence Edward, Joseph Henry, Roberson Francis, Minnie Mable, Bertha Maude, Jessie Maria, Queen Ethel and Ivy Kuridala Rose.  He was the fourth oldest of the fourteen children.  He died at the age of 84 on March 11th, 1983 in Richmond Hospital, Queensland.
