James Neil was born on April 1st, 1879 in Dalby, Queensland.  James Neil's father was Neil Fletcher and his mother was Margaret Campbell.  His paternal grandparents are Andrew Fletcher and Margaret Henderson; his maternal grandfather is James Campbell.  He had three brothers and four sisters, named Andrew, Archibald, Neil, Margaret, Annabella Catherine, Christina and Helen.  He was the seventh oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 57 on November 11th, 1936 in Dalby, Queensland.
