Franz was born on July 4th, 1818.  Franz's father was Johann Peter Reuter and his mother was Margareta Ursula JosFlatten (Reuter).  His paternal grandparents were Johann Gerhard Reuter and Anna Maria Nicolet. He had four brothers and a sister, named Johann, Franz, Franz, Johann and Maria.  He was the youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 66 on February 8th, 1885.
