  • Sophie was married to a man named Noordhoek-Hegt in Madras. She was widowed and married Carl Victor Reuter in 1881. A picture of Arthur as a four or five year old boy has the description Arthur in March 1883. Arthur is pictured in a picture of three children who are named Sophie, Arthur and Willem, but Sophie and Willem, who are at least eight years older than Arthur, do not show up again in further family pictures or documents. Perhaps these other two children were left behind in Madras. In 2008 new information was added by a descendent of Sophie Pincott, Chris Pilger of Canada. He confirms that Sophie's maiden name was Pincott and she was married to William Adrina Johann Noordhoek-Hegt, with whom she had four sons. One of these is Arthur. In the meantime, it has been established that Willem is Arthur's older brother. Willy, wrote several letters that survived to give many details of the family.
