Ella was born in 1914.  Ella's father was Nehmias Isaac Jacobson and her mother was Henriette Mendels.  Her paternal grandparents were Salomon Jacobson and Fenny Mosbach. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Fred, Jo, Fannie and Iet.  She was the youngest of the five children.  She died at the age of 28 in 1942.

Ella and Isaac were separated.  They had a son and a daughter, named Nehemias and Jetje.
