Mary was born on November 23rd, 1841 in Parish of Alva and her baptism was conducted by Reverend Andrew Brown Minister of the Parish.1  Mary's father was William Drysdale and her mother was Janet Archibald.  Her paternal grandparents were David Drysdale and Jean Dempster. She had a brother and four sisters, named William, Jane Dempster, Janet , Euphemia and Margaret.  She was the fifth oldest of the six children.  She died at the age of 75 in 1916.
