William was born about 1797 in North Uist, Inverness, Scotland.  William's father was Donald Boyd and his mother was Margaret MacLean.  His paternal grandparents were William Boyd and Unknown. He had a brother named Archibald.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died on October 23rd, 1888 in North Uist, Inverness, Scotland.
