William Henry was born on August 22nd, 1809 in Hobart,Tasmania, Australia.  William Henry's father was Mathew Bowden and his mother was Maria Stanfield.  His paternal grandparents were John Bowden and Elisabeth Bee; his maternal grandparents were Richard Stanfield and Ann Crisby. He had three brothers and a sister, named John, Unknown, Thomas and Ann Elizabeth.  He was the third oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 73 on August 23rd, 1882 in Kew, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.  His burial was in Boroondarra Cemetery, Kew, Victoria, Australia.
