Dinah was born in 1779 in Bridport, Dorset, England.  Dinah's father was Lawrence Ackerman and her mother was Sarah Denziloe. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Edward, Abraham, Henry, Jane, Sarah and Joan.  She was the fifth oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 70 in 1849.
