Notities over Antonis Hendrickszn van Geldrop Antonis was a linen weaver by trade, and perhaps because of his occupation he moved around much more than was typical for that time. There is evidence that his oldest son was born in the town of Geldrop, just outside of Endhoven, but by 1616 he was living in the town of Wel. In 1622 he was an inhabitant of Nederhemert, and 1635 he moved to Heusden, transferring his church membership on November 4 of that year. There is no record of his wife in the Heusden Lidmaten, and it is likely that she had died by that date. As a linen weaver, he was probably a rather well-to-do tradesman, and a member of the local guild. He passed his occupation on to his eldest son Hendrick, who unfortunately died young.
Antonis had an active business, and was mentioned several times in the Notorial records of Nederhemert;
On February 14, 1616 he was a weaver in Wel and entered into a transaction for a house and garden in the town of Nederhemert. On November 3, 1623 he entered into a transaction with Jan Teunis Knoop of Nederhemert. On April 3, 1624 he entered into a transaction with Adriaen Floriszn On October 15, 1624 he entered into a transaction with Cornelis Jochimszn of Nederhemert. On April 8, 1626 he entered into a transaction with Joost Aertszn of Nederhemert. On May 6, 1626 he entered into a transaction with Adriaen Wouterszn. On July 7, 1627 he entered into a transaction with Jan Goderts Boon. On April 20, 1629 he entered into a transaction with Sweer Staeszn. On February 27, 1631 he entered into a transaction with Cornelis Joosten. On October 12, 1640 he entered into a transaction with Gijsbert Udemans. On November 3, 1641 he entered into a transaction with Cornelis Joosten. On May 7, 1643 Willem Antoniszn, Aeltjen Antonisdr and her husband Andries Hendrickszn, Maijken Lamberts the widow of Hendrick Antonis, and Tonisken Antonisdr and her husband Gilles de Haen appeared before the schepenen of Nederhemert in regards to a house that their father, Antonis Hendrickszn van Geldrop, once lived. Since he remarried about a year later, it is possible that he was trying to dispose of some of his property prior to the wedding. On February 13, 1644 it is mentioned that Anthonis is living in the town of Heusden. ==================================================== Trouwen (Nederduits gereformeerde gemeente) Bron: Doop, Trouw en Begraaf Registers Soort registratie: Trouwakte (Akte)datum: 12-07-1644 Plaats: Heusden Bijzonderheden: Datum trouwen: 12-07-1644 Plaats trouwen: Heusden Datum aangifte: 24-06-1644 Plaats ondertrouw: Heusden Religie huwelijk: NG Bruidegom Toenis Hendrickss wonende te Heusden Bruid Marij Anthoni Eerdere man Jochem van Paderborn Eerdere vrouw Truijken Toeniss Bronvermelding Trouwen (Nederduits gereformeerde gemeente) archiefnummer 0031, inventarisnummer Heusden06, blad 24v Gemeente: Heusden, Oudheusden Periode: 1639-1709 Religie: NG
