Jan was born in January 1723 in Aalburg and his baptism took place there on January 1st, 1723.1  Jan's father was Caspar Jacobszn Mans and his mother was Maria Hendriks Verdoorn.  His paternal grandparents were Jacobus Mans and Michieltje Dirckx; his maternal grandparents were Hendrik Janszn Verdoorn and Magdalena Ariens van der Flier. He had two brothers named Philip and David.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 72 on January 15th, 1795 in Wijk en Aalburg.2
