Miriam's father was Rabbi Yaacov Hanoch (Henich) Sankevitch and her mother was Haya-Frida Sankevitch.  Her paternal grandparents were Rabbi Moshe Yehudah Sankevitch and Sarah Sankevitch; her maternal grandparents were Reb Yehudah-Leib Ide-Libe Frejbaum and Sarah Leah Frejbaum.  She had two brothers and five sisters, named Duvid, Yechiel, Chana, Rivka, Batya, Pnina and Rochale.
