Manikant's father was Narotam Morar and his mother was Gangabai Gangaram.  His paternal grandparents were Morar Anand and Lakhmibai; his maternal grandfather was Gangaram Ghela and his maternal grandmother is Nandubai. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Chhotalal, Amratlal and Muktabai.  He died at the age of 74 on November 6th, 2016.
