Raman's father was Kessaugi Gangaram Parmar and her mother was Moti.  Her paternal grandparents were Gangaram Ghela Parmar and Nandubai. She had three brothers named Ramniclal, Champaclal and Vipinchandra.  She is the third oldest of the four children.
