Mrs. John P. Caldwell
The Death Angel summoned another pioneer of Glenwood vicinity on Friday, August 11, in the person of Mrs. J. P. Caldwell.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. D. S. Thompson were held Sunday afternoon, August 13, from the home west of Glenwood. Music for the occasion was furnished by the Christian church male quartet, Messrs. J. W. Morgan, Guy Mayberry, George Scott, Thomas White. The pallbearers were six grandsons of the deceased. Elton Dalrymple, Orva Slater, Claude Hunt, Everett Hunt, Vern Hunt, Fred Slater. Burial was in Glenwood cemetery.
Jane McCoy was born in Lafayette county, Penn, April 23, 1835, and died at her home near Glenwood August 11, 1922, aged 87 years, 3 months and 19 days. Her parents moved to Illinois in 1839 and the following year the family moved to Scott County, Iowa. Three years later they moved to Cedar County and in later years to Mills County.
She was united in marriage the first time with M.Y. Dalrympie and to the union was born three children, Mrs. Noah Hunt, Mrs. Joseph Slater and a son, Donny Y. Dalrymple, who died August 14, 1920.
In 1874, following the death of her first husband several years before she was united in marriage with J. P. Caldwell, who survives her. Besides her husband she is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Noah Hunt, Glenwood, and Mrs. Joseph Slater, Rockport, Mo., and a brother, Thomas McCoy of Ellsworth, Kan. There survive her also 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
