Desire was born on October 13th, 1625 in MA, Plymouth Co., Plymouth.¹   Desire's father was John Howland and her mother was Elizabeth Tilley. She had four brothers and six sisters, named John, Jabez, Joseph, Isaac, Hope, Elizabeth, Lydia, Hannah, Mary and Ruth.  She was the oldest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 58 on October 13th, 1683 in MA, Barnstable Co.  She was buried in MA, Barnstable Co, Barnstable, Cobbs Hill Cemetery (East and West).^1 1

  On 20 Feb 1642/3 Desire married Capt. John Gorham, son of Ralph Gorham (ca 1575-ca 1643) & Margaret Stephenson (-bef 1637), at Plymouth, MA. Born ca 1620 at Benfield, Northamptonshire. Baptized on 28 Jan 1620 in Benfield, Northamptonshire. John died at Swansea, MA, on 5 Feb 1677.
