In the name of God, Amen this eleventh day of June in the year of our Lord one-thousand-eight-hundred and eighteen, I,
David Richmond of Guilford in the County of Chenango and State of New York, do now call to mind my mortality and knowing it
is appointed for all men once to die; and being almost worn out with old age and my infirmities of body; but of sound mind
and memory thanks be given to God for the same; do make, constitute and declare this to be my last will and testament in
manner following. Revoking and ameliating by these present all and every instrument or instruments will or wills heretofore
by me made or declared either by word or writing and this only to be taken for my last will and Testament, and no other.
First of all,
I will my soul to God who gave it me and my body to the dust to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter
named and that my funeral charges and just
debts be well and truly paid as soon as conveniently can be after my decease by my Executor hereafter named.
Item.

I give and bequeath unto my well-beloved wife Nancy Richmond all my household goods to be at her own disposal, also one half of my dwelling house and one third part of the barn and corn crib, and my riding horse and furniture and two cows
and six sheep and the use of one third part of my farm for her use during her life time.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my well-beloved Son, Joseph Richmond one dollar in money and one fourth part of my wearing apparel. The reason why I give him no more is because I have heretofore given him his share in my estate.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son, David Richmond now living in Gloucester in the County of Providence and state of Rhode Island one dollar in money and one fourth part of my wearing apparel. The reason why I give him no more is because I have heretofore given him his share in my estate.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son, Thomas Richmond one dollar in money and one fourth part of my wearing apparel. The reason why I give him no more is because I have heretofore given him his share in my estate.

Item. I give unto my well beloved son, Seth Richmond all the whole of my farm whereon I now live containing by estimation
one hundred and fifty acres and is the same farm I purchased of Arthur Burlingame, with the imbarressment of his mother’s
thirds on the same during her life; unto him, his heirs and assigns forever; and , also all my stock of cattle, sheep and
swine that I haven’t heretofore given away in this will and also my farming tools of every kind and all the securities and
money that I shall have at the time of my decease.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved daughter Lucy Smith, wife of Dexter Smith one hundred dollars to be paid by
my Executor hereafter named in one year after my decease.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved daughter Esther Westcott, wife of Joseph Westcott one hundred dollars to be
paid by my Executor hereafter named in one year and one half after my decease.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved daughter Lydia Arnold, wife of Stephen Arnold one hundred dollars to be paid
by my Executor hereafter named in two years after my decease.

Item. I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Nancy Wood, wife of Joseph Wood one hundred dollars to be paid by my
Executor hereafter named in two years and one half after my decease.

Furthermore, I give and bequeath unto my well beloved grandson, Samuel Richmond, son of Joseph Richmond one hundred dollars
to be paid by my Executor hereafter named to be paid in three years after my decease.

Furthermore, I do hereby appoint my well beloved son, Seth Richmond Executor to this my last will and testament. In witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above. David Richmond

Written, signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named David Richmond to be his last will and Testament in the
presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the Testator.

Comments: From the History of Chenango Co., NY - Guilford Twn. by James Smith, 1880

Settlements were made about 1800 by Major David RICHMOND, Abraham IVES, Colonel Stephen WINSOR, Daniel JOHNSON, Elihu MURRAY, Joel and Aaron ROOT and Eliab FORD.
Maj. RICHMOND came in from Rhode Island and settled at Latham's Corners. His house stood on the site of the one owned by David WESTCOTT of Utica, and occupied at present by Emerson J. POTTER. He died there Oct 14, 1818, aged, 71, and Nancy, his wife, July 9, 1844, aged 94. His children were Joseph, Thomas, Polly, Esther, Nancy, David, who lived in Rhode Island, and Seth, who married Keziah HUNT and lived on the homestead till his death in June, 1879, at the age of 89 years. Joseph married Rizpah HUNT and settled on Richmond Pond, about five miles east of Norwich. His farm lay partly in Norwich and partly in New Berlin, but his house was in the latter town. He died there Jan. 25, 1853, aged 80, and his wife May 24, 1836, aged 61. Thomas married Lucy DURAND and settled on the flats one-fourth mile above Latham's Corners. He afterwards removed to the Corners and built the rear part of Orson Richmond's residence and subsequently the front part. He lived there till well advanced in years when he went to live with his daughter Nancy, wife of John HOLMES, of Smithport, Penn., and died there July 2, 1863, aged 86. His wife died May 14, 1857, aged 76. He and his brother Joseph were active, energetic men who did an extensive lumber business; the latter operated a saw-mill which was located at the mouth of Richmond Pond. Polly married Stephen ARNOLD and settled and died on the place now owned by Gordon WOOD on the south line of Norwich. Esther married David WESTCOTT and lived and died in Rhode Island. Nancy married Joseph WOOD and lived and died on the David CORNELL farm. Joseph's and David's children are all dead, and only one of Thomas' is living, Nancy HOLMES of Smithport, Penn. None of the grandchildren are living in the county. The children of George A. TRUESDELL at Latham's Corners are great-grandchildren of Maj. Richmonds. Orson Richmond of Latham's Corners, whose wife Euphemia is a writer of some note, is a descendant of Major Richmond's. Mrs. Richmond was written some ten volumes of juvenile sabbath school and temperance works, has been a contributor to the Ladies' Repository, and is now a regular correspondent of the Northern Christian Advocate, The Watchword, the organ of the Good Templars, the Christian Woman, of Philadelphia, The Christian at Work, the Rural New Yorker, and various other publications.

      In 1775 he was at Roxbury and other places for six months with a Lieutentant Commission
      
      In 1776 he was absent one month at Bristol with a Lieutenant Commission
      
      1777 In October he was absent on month at Yibeton(sp) and in November one month with a Lieutenant commission

      That he served at other times during the Revolution as an officerat other times that I cannot recollect. She believes his service would amount to more than two years. That the Captain's commision was awarded and received by my husband during the Revolutionary War.
      
      She further declares that she married to the said David (Joseph crossed out) Richmond at Gloucester state of Rhode Island by Elder Joseph Winsorof said Gloucesterin December of the year 1766. That her husband the foresaid David (Joseph crossed out) died on October 14th 1818 and that she remained a widow ever since that period.

      From May 1, 1775, six months as a Lieutenant in Captain Field's COmpany, Colonel Daniel Hitchcock's Regiment.
      From December 1776, one month as First Lieutenant in Captain Timoth Vilmarth's Company, Colonel Chad Brown's Regiment; in March and April, 1777, tow months as lieutentant in same company and regiment.
         He was appointed September 30, 1777, Captain and served two months in Colonel Chad Brown's Regiment, and served four months in 1778 in same comany and regiment. In the summer of 1780, he served about one month and acted as Major.
      
      After the Revolution he moved to Guilford, Chenango County, New York. He died there Octoboer 14, 1818.
         The soldier married in December, 1766, in Cloucester Rhode Island, Nancy, the daughter of Edward Davis, of Gloucester. They were married by Elder Joseph Winsor.
         She was allowed pension on her application executed July 21, 1837, at which time she was aged eighty-eight years, and was a resident of Guilford, New York.
