Hannah was born on December 1st, 1868 in Oldham, Lancashire, England.  Hannah's father was Edward Whittaker and her mother was Jane Eyre Wood.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward Whittaker and Margaret Wrigley; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Wood and Sarah Pendlebury. She had two brothers and a sister, named Robert, William and Emily.  She died at the age of 43 on September 30th, 1912 in Wellington, New Zealand.
