Elizabeth was born on April 29th, 1810.  Elizabeth's father was John Smith Barlow and her mother was Sarah Wrigley.  Her paternal grandfather is John Barlow and her paternal grandmother was Betty Smith; her maternal grandparents were James Wrigley and Elizabeth Kenworthy. She had four brothers and a sister, named Thomas, John, John James, William Henry and Sarah Jane.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
