James 
James was born in 1788 in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex. James' father was Henry and his mother was Tabitha Batchelor. His paternal grandparents were Henry Gander and Elizabeth Harland; his maternal grandparents were Richard Batchelor and Ann Penfold. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, Henry, William, Francis, Elizabeth, Jane and Ann. He died at the age of 80 on March 6th, 1868 in Kelso, New South Wales, Australia.General Notes
1851 Census shows James, aged 64, as a Farm Labourer, Elizabeth his wife and their daughter Ganea as a farm servant. They lived in Sayers Common
