    I have a birth record that does not state the actual city name, but only refers to "the city" from the word "oppido". I am guessing that using that word within the context would refer to the city in which the church is located. Here is the entire text from the record.
    
    Die 9 ejusde Ego idem Baptizani Lucas Laurentij et Regina Jagieta filiu, Coningu legittno de oppido. Patrini Simon Pieniek et Dorotha Gwiazdzina de eodes oppido ambo.
    
    I have typed this AS IS, I have seen spelling errors in the records so if you see any, that is the way it is.
    
    What I understand from this is that on the 9th of October 1679 Lukas was baptized to Laurent & Regina Jagieta, It was a legitimate birth "from the city?". Godparents were Simon Pieniek & Dorothy Gwiazdzina both are from the same city.
    
    I am hoping to confirm what I am guessing about the translation... in this case the City of the church is Gniewkowo, so I am guessing that everyone in this record is from Gniewkowo. And in any of the other records I see only oppido mentioned.... Can I assume that it is to mean Gniewkowo.
