Ambrose was born in July 1821.  Ambrose's father was James Austen and his mother was Mary Drury.  His paternal grandparents were John Austen and Jane Sawyer; his maternal grandparents are ?? Drury and May. He had three sisters named Maria, Eliza and Harriett.  He was the second oldest of the four children.
