Михаил was born on September 20th, 1847 in Харитоново, Корческий уезд and his christening took place there on September 21st, 1847.  His godfather was Георгий Гордеев and his godmother was Марья. Михаил's father was Алексей Гордеевич Добровольский and his mother was Екатерина Григорьевна Добровольская.  His paternal grandparents were Гордей Иванович Добровольский and Марфа Ивановна (Добровольская). He had five brothers and three sisters, named Стефан, Николай, Василий, Александр, Егор, Екатерина, Анастасия and Екатерина.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.  He died due to heart disease at the age of 61 on December 7th, 1908.  He was buried on December 10th, 1908 in Вышний Волочёк.
