Minnie was born in 1882 in Hampstead Middlesex.1   Minnie's father was William Sapshead (Coachman) and her mother was Emma Head (of Shoreditch).  Her paternal grandparents were James Sapshead (Livery Stable Keeper) and Mary Page (Potters Bar); her maternal grandparents were George Head (Gen Dealer-Green Grocer) and Ann. She had two brothers and seven sisters, named William, Frederick, Emma, Ada, Louisa, Nelly, Sophia, Alice and Rose.  She was the third youngest of the ten children.
