Kate was born in 1878 in Wethersfield Essex.  Kate's father was Thomas Rogers (of Weathersfield) and her mother was Orpha French (of Weathersfield).  Her maternal grandparents were Joseph of Wetherfield French and Elizabeth of Finchingfield More. She had six sisters named Sarah, Elizabeth, Susan, Mary, Sophia and Ethel.  She was the second youngest of the seven children.
