Charles was born about 1876 in Dover Kent.  Charles' father was James Piper (Grocer & Butcher) and his mother was Jane Hannah Wren.  His paternal grandparents were Charles Piper (Blacksmith b Maidstone Kent) and Mary Ann Savin (b Ramsgate Kent). He had five brothers and five sisters, named James, Edmund, Albert, Leonard, Arthur, Eleanor, Edith, Rose, Daisy and Ada.
