William was born about 1814 in Barking Essex and his christening took place on September 18th, 1814 at St Margaret's  Church Barking.1 2  William's father was Thomas Patch (Fisherman) and his mother was Mary (widow Williams). He had two brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, John, Mary and Sarah.  He was the second youngest of the five children. He had a half-sister named Mary.  He died on February 11th, 1865 in Barking Essex.  The funeral took place on February 18th, 1865 at St Margaret's Barking.  He was buried on February 18th, 1865 at St Margaret's Barking.1 3
