Luther was born on October 27th, 1860 in Barking Essex and his christening took place on March 13th, 1867 at St Margaret's  Church Barking.1   Luther's father was John Alexander Hambelton (Sail Maker) and his mother was Mary Hurdis Foster Farley (dressmaker).  His paternal grandparents were John Alexander Hambelton (Fisherman Smack Owner) and Ann Quash (d Grimsby); his maternal grandparents were Edward Foster Farley (Ag Lab b Lewisham) and Ellen Campion (b Lewisham). He had three brothers and six sisters, named Atholl, Alexander, William, Alice, Clara, Ellen, Annette, Florence and Harriett.  He was the fourth oldest of the ten children.  He died about January 20th, 1932 in Barking Essex.  The funeral took place on January 26th, 1932 at the Rippleside Cemetery Barking.  He was buried on January 26th, 1932 at the Rippleside Cemetery Barking.2 3
