William was born on September 15th, 1810 in Barking Essex and his christening took place on October 28th, 1810 at St Margarets Barking.1   William's father was Samuel Best (fisherman) and his mother was Ann Hall.  His maternal grandparents were John Hall and Ann. He had a sister named Elizabeth.  He died at the age of 33 on August 31st, 1844 in Barking Essex.  The funeral took place on September 5th, 1844 at St Margarets Barking.  He was buried on September 5th, 1844 in St Margarets Churchyard.2

William and Eliza were married in a religious ceremony on January 6th, 1833 at St Anne Limehouse Stepney witnessed by Charles Henry Cross.3   They had a son and three daughters, named Thomas, Mary, Eliza and Julia.
