Genya was born in 1900 in Rezekne.  Genya's father was Ilya Sapir and her mother was Rachel Sapir.  Her paternal grandparents were Leiba Sapir and Tzilya Sapir; her maternal grandparents were David Telzner and Sara Telzner. She had four brothers and two sisters, named David Faibush, Leon(Lev), Michael, Shmuel, Zina and Ida.  She was the third youngest of the seven children.  She died in the Holocaust at the age of 41 in 1941.
