Sofya was born on April 24th, 1902 in Rezekne. Sofya's father was Iosef(Iosel) Rivkin and her mother was Rachel Rivkin. Her paternal grandparents were Girsh Rivkin and Sora Rivkin; her maternal grandparents were Leiba Sapir and Tzilya Sapir. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Lev, Hirsh, Benyamin, Izaac, Ilya, Tzilya and Genya. She was the second youngest of the eight children. She died due to natural causes or old age at the age of 78 in 1980.
