Hana was born in 1922 in Karsava.  Hana's father was Haim Michail Sherman and her mother was Sonya Sherman.  Her maternal grandparents were Azriel Telzner and Basya Presmann Telzner. She had a brother and a sister, named Gregory and Slava.  She was the second oldest of the three children.  She died at the age of 63 on August 8th, 1985 in Israel.

Hana and Lazar were married in 1945.  They had two daughters named Greta and Mira.
