Konrad was born in 1157.  Konrad's father was Wladyslaw-II "Wygnaniec" Piast Dynasty King of Poland and his mother was Agnes (Agnieszka) of Austria.  His paternal grandparents were Boleslaw-III "Krzywousty" Piast Dynasty King of Poland and Zbyslava Svyatopolkovna of Kiev.  He was the youngest of five children.  He had three brothers and a sister, named Boleslaw-I (Wysoki), Mieszko-I "Platonogi", Wojciech and Richilde (Rixa) (Richenza).
