Barbara was born in January 1894.  Barbara's father was Stephen A. WALKER and her mother was Barbara Alice DISSER.  Her paternal grandparents were John WALKER and Nancy NORRIS; her maternal grandparents were Michael (Sr.) DISSER and Catherine ANSTEATT.  She had five brothers and three sisters, named Lawrence E., John M., William, Martin, Stephen, Catharine, Florence and Mary E..  She was the youngest of the nine children.
