    Marion Van Tornhout:  You mention that the Peter SAELENS had lived in Detroit, Mi. at 771 Lakeview back in 1920, well my Aunt "Tante" Bollaert (my fathers sister) lived on that Street back in the 30's. not sure of the house # but I would visit her during the Summers of 1938-1940.
    My husband & I went back there several years ago and that whole area was a burned-out, wrecked, & damaged slum.  I remember some good times there back in the good-old days.  Things have a way of changing for the worst sometimes, too bad.  My aunt got out of the area back in the early 40's and went to California to raise Chickens, she died too early at age 53, she was my God-Mother and favorite Aunt..Her name was Clementine (VAN DE VELDE) BOLLAERT, she divorced Arthur in about 1943-44 and married a first cousin Valere VAN HOE.  She had 2 sons Archie & George, they are both dead now also.

Belgium, language in home country was Flemish, arrived in U.S. in 1907, has petitioned for naturalization, able to speak English, living with wife Octavia, age 50 (est b yr 1880), age 23 when first married (est m yr 1903), able to read/write, b. Belgium, f/m b. Belgium, language in home country was Flemish, arrived in U.S. in 1908, status is alien (i.e. has not petitioned for naturalization), able to speak English, occupation "none," and two children, both single daughters and b. MI:  auto factory laborer Margaret, age 20, and student Marion, age 17, plus Morris SAELENS (same address, "head" of h/hold), rents home for 50/month, does not own a radio set, age 28 (age 22 at first marriage), b. Belgium, f/m b. Belgium, arrived in U.S. 1908, status is alien, occupation tinner, own business, and Morris' (second) wife Irene, age 21, age 20 at first marriage, b. MI, f/m b. MI/Belgium, occupation saleslady in a bakery, plus Morris' daughter (from first marriage), student Mary, age 9 (?), b. Belgium, f/m b. Belgium, arrived in U.S. 1921 (?).  No other SAELENS among neighbors.
