Eliza was born in 1834.  Eliza's father was Thomas M. SPALDING and her mother was Mary Ann KELTY.  Her paternal grandparents were James Ignatius SPALDING and Julia Ann MONTGOMERY.  She had a brother and five sisters, named John B., Catherine, Laura A., Margaret E., Harriet and Julie.  She was the oldest of the seven children.
