  match? A Joseph CARRICO who owned land in Barr Twp, had that land listed as delinquent in The Daviess County Democrat, Vol. 17, No. 9, Saturday, January 19, 1884.

  "returned and remaining delinquent for the year 1882 and previous years, in Daviess county, Indiana, with penalty and interest attached thereto, together with the taxes for the current year, 1883, and costs of advertising:
  
  Lavelle, James C., uuditor of Daviess Co., Ind. Mr. Lavelle's statement at the end of the article alerts the public that the listed properties would be sold in February 1884 because the owners had not paid taxes for the properties for 1882 or 1883. I may be reading this wrong, but I believe some of them might have been delinquent for even more years. In order to not have their land sold, people could pay the tax, penalty, and interest before the second Monday in February, 1884.
