    I recall hearing the following from my father:
    
    When Meyer, Simon and Dave left Russia, they left behind a sister.  She did not emigrate because she was planning to marry, and also because of the need to care for the parents.  This was Fruma.  They stayed in touch with
    her until about 1940, but during the war they lost touch and did not know if she was still alive.  It was only in the early 1950s that they found her again, and in the early 1960s when my uncle Sam (Meyer's oldest son) went to Russia he saw her and her husband and children.

    Fascinating to read that about Uncle Sam, I have vivid memories of him and of both his wives, Esther I and Esther II. His renunciation of poor Tsar Nicholas struck me awfully funny because Sam, along with most of that branch of the family, were/are fervent, unshakable Communists. His visits to us always ended in hours-long arguments with my Dad, they'd both get more and more extreme, and sooner or later my Dad would say "Why don't ya go back to Russia if you think it's so great." (In fact when Sam married his 2nd wife, they went off to Russia for the honeymoon.) Often when my Dad started his half of the debate, Sam would wink at me and turn down the volume on his hearing aid....
    
    Very dear, good-natured, interesting people, as long as you didn't get them started on The Subject in which case you could save the effort of listening to the diatribe and just read it word-for-word in the Daily Worker.
    
    By the way he must've filled out that form before growing into himself, I'm pretty sure he was well over 6 feet, and he was terrifically strong.  A doctor once told him to soak a sore leg in the hottest water he could stand, his wife found him boiling himself.
