Catherine was born on April 17th, 1858.  Catherine's father was James Knox and her mother was Nancy Coulter.  Her maternal grandparents were John 1834 Vow Coulter and Mary Hanna. She had two brothers and a sister, named Robert, James and Matilda.  She was the second oldest of the four children.
