Thomas was born on April 24th, 1825 in Lislea.

  Date of Birth in 1st Kilrea Presbyterian Church Baptism records to George Gordon and "Jane Stewart of Bovidy, his wife".

Thomas' father was George [1858-HillHead,Plot 37] Gordon and his mother was Jane Stewart.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Gordon and Jane Wilson; his maternal grandparents were James Stewart and Catherine Stewart. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Stewart, Archibald, Archibald, William, Sarah, Catherine, Maria and Jane.  He died at the age of 76 on December 21st, 1901.

  This man also left a will showing he died on 21st December 1901.  He was a farmer of Lislea and left his wife Nancy Gordon his farm until her death at which point it went to his son, William Johnston, as long as he "behaved" and married someone approved by his mother!.  If he didn't, the farm was to go to another son, Robert "who is in America" as long as he came home and farmed  it.  A third son, John Maxwell, got £10, while a fourth, Thomas York got £5.

  Probate of the Will of Thomas Gordon late of Lislea County Londonderry Farmer who died 27 December 1901 granted at Londonderry to William Toghill (Junior) and William H. M'Kay Farmers.
  
  His obit states that he spent some time in America before returning to Lislea to farm.

  - George is scored out of Plot 37 to "John (Hill)" in 1870; John is scored out to George in 1872; George is scored out to Thomas in 1874.  I have no idea who John and George are but Thomas is his son.
  - Thomas is scored out to Annie in 1904.  Annie is his wife, Ann "Nancy" Burnside, who gets the farm in his will.
  - Annie is scored out to W. J in 1918; W.J is scored out to "Elizth" in 1921; Elizth is scored out to Robert in 1923, who held Plot 37 until the end of the book in 1929.  This all fits.  Annie died in 1916.  W.J is his son, William Johnston, who was killed when he fell off his bicycle in Kilrea in 1919.  He was married at the time but I cannot find his marriage to see if he had married an "Elizth".  And I do not know who Robert was but W. J would not have had a son old enough to take over in 1923.  Did his brother, Robert, come back from America?
